Alpert (Professor of medicine; Editor-in-Chief, American Journal of Medicine @University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center, Tucson, AZ, USA.) Joseph Stephen Alpert is an American cardiologist and professor of medicine at the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center. He is also the editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Medicine. Alpert received his bachelor's degree from Yale University magna cum laude. He later received his medical doctorate from Harvard Medical School, cum laude. In 1978, Alpert joined the faculty of the University of Massachusetts as professor and chief of the Section of Cardiovascular Medicine. In 1992, he was appointed the Robert S. and Irene P. Flinn Professor of Medicine and Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Prof. J. Alpert is known for helping create a universal definition of myocardial infarction. He has published more than 700 original research articles, reviews, editorials, and clinical reports as well as writing or editing more than 50 books. Holger Thiele (Professor; Medical Director of the Department of Internal Medicine/Cardiology @Heart Center Leipzig at University of Leipzig) Prof. Dr. Holger Thiele, MD, FESC Heart Center Leipzig at University of Leipzig, Germany. Holger Thiele is the Medical Director of the Department of Internal Medicine/Cardiology at the Heart Center Leipzig at University of Leipzig which is one of the largest heart centers in Europe. He is full professor of cardiology at the University of Leipzig. His main research interests are acute myocardial infarction, acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support, acute cardiovascular care, interventional cardiology and structural heart disease. Professor Thiele has published over 600 articles in international scientific journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, JAMA, Circulation, JACC, and the European Heart Journal with a cumulative impact factor of >4600. He has received multiple awards from the German Society of Cardiology and other organisations. Abdo Khoury (President, the European Society for Emergency Medicine (EuSEM); ) Prof. A. Khoury is working as a consultant physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine & Critical Care in the University of Franche-Comté, Medical & Trauma Center. He is part of the Research Team on Ventilation, Inserm CIC 1431, University of Franche-Comté, Regional Trauma & Medical Center.
