SpeakOut Ed Talks - Webinar Series presents
"Education in the Time of Coronavirus:
School, Health, Race, Social Services, and Building a More Connected Humanity in an Era of Social Distancing"
Thursday, March 19 at 1pm PST // 4pm EST
Presented by Jesse Hagopian, Award-Winning Educator and Co-Editor of "Teaching for Black Lives"
The Seattle area began as the epicenter of Coronavirus in the United States, with over 420 confirmed cases in Washington State and 37 fatalities as of Sunday. Seattle Public Schools were one of the first districts to close its doors for its 52,000 pupils for two weeks. Now districts, independent schools, and higher education institutions across the country have followed suit, thrusting many into the unknown, where the most vulnerable students—especially Black, Brown, low income, and homeless—will be devastatingly impacted.
Jesse Hagopian’s webinar presentation will give us an inside look at ground zero for the spread of COVID-19 and provide ideas for how the new reality of social distancing doesn’t have to mean distancing ourselves from one another's humanity.
