Diversity and inclusion in the world of work: findings and recommendations on how to promote socioeconomic participation of women with disabilities’ to achieve an equal future
A discussion on how to promote women with disabilities’ socioeconomic participation to achieve an equal future. Last March 8th we commemorated International Women’s Day. We celebrated the advancements in gender equality whilst reflecting on the barriers that continue to impede women’s full equality and inclusion.
This year’s theme - “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world” - highlights how the global pandemic has exacerbated the specific and ongoing challenges facing women in relation to their full and meaningful inclusion in political, social, economic, and cultural life. These challenges are being experienced disproportionately by already-marginalised groups, including women with disabilities.
As part of the Innovation to Inclusion (i2i) programme, Plan International will be presenting the findings from a Gender Analysis carried out in Bangladesh and Kenya. We will bring voices of women with disabilities and private sector representatives to the table and promote a discussion on recommendations that support the participation of women with disabilities in the world of work.

i2i is a three-year project funded by the UK government’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office) that aims to deliver direct and sustainable change for women and men with disabilities in Bangladesh and Kenya.
