Alison Wilding: On Her Work
Alison Wilding’s sculpture has challenged expectations since she first rose to prominence as part of the so-called ‘New British Sculpture’ in the 1980’s. Over five decades Wilding’s work, which is characterized by her particular manipulation of materials, has ranged in scale from the near monumental to small handheld objects, and continues to evolve testing boundaries. She says that beyond Brexit and Covid, the ongoing climate change crisis is causing her to asses her practice.
