Leiden University and the Institute for Economics & Peace are pleased to invite you to the webinar Here and Now: What Is Impacting Global Peace? Conflict, COVID-19 and Climate on Friday, June 26 at 14.00 (CEST).

Presented by Mr. Serge Stroobants, Director of Europe & MENA at the Institute for Economics and Peace, the Global Peace Index is one of the most comprehensive data-driven analyses on trends in peace, its economic value, and how to develop peaceful societies. This year’s report outlines key 2020 highlights, global rankings, regional overviews as well as country improvements and deteriorations in peace. Further implications on global peace will be discussed by Ms. Alisa Kerschbaum and Dr. Sinisa Vukovic, Assistant Professors at Leiden University with the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs – Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA). Ms. Kerschbaum is a Researcher at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs of Leiden University, focusing on topics at the intersection of terrorism, peacekeeping, the protection of civilians and the climate-security nexus. Dr. Vukovic is also a Senior Lecturer of Conflict Management and Global Policy and Associate Director of the Conflict Management Program at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies.

The discussion will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Joachim Koops, Chair of Security Studies and Scientific Director of ISGA at Leiden University.
