COVID in Black, Episode 3: Health Inequities and the Legacy of Mistrust in Black Communities
In this episode of the CoVPN COVID in Black discussion series, we delve into understanding health inequities in the COVID pandemic, and the role medical mistrust plays in reinforcing health disparities. Our panelists of researchers and medical experts will discuss some of the causes of health inequities in the United States, factors which contribute to medical mistrust in Black communities, and how Black people can begin to move beyond obstacles such as vaccine hesitancy and lack of confidence in clinical trials. The panelists will also begin to unpack the legacy of medical exploitation of Black people, and why Black communities should consider participating in clinical trials today.
