Topic: Career Unstuck: Managing the Challenges in a Positive Job Offer Search
Presenter: Wayne Greenway
It deeply affects us when we get fired or we feel we need an exit strategy from our current employment. The stress is intensified when we have been bullied in the job or if we realize that the job no longer fits or never did fit and we have no idea of what to do next or how to get there.
The subsequent “job offer search” can be daunting and stressful. It is a complex process to launch and manage: Discerning career direction, developing a job offer search strategy, creating a powerful resume, networking to find a position, customizing each application and perfecting one’s interview and negotiating skills. These stages require a high level of curiosity, new skills, courage and persistence, especially for our highly competitive market. Clients are often confronted by fears they have never noticed before. Nearly every person “gets stuck” at one or more points as they journey through their search for the right job offers.
This practically focused webinar will reference current research in Positive Psychology, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the literature in the Career Development field. It will take participants through an overview of the Career Aviators process which is adapted from the excellent work of Mark Franklin, in the development his Career Cycles Narrative Assessment System.
