City intelligence, in its various forms, has long been considered crucial to facilitating civic action in urban spaces. Although sharing information and knowledge effectively and enabling target audiences to use it as a platform for action is always challenging, requiring innovative tools from producers in a continually changing user and technological environment.
Join Monique Damons for this session which will contribute to current thinking around how information and knowledge on South African cities can be shared in innovative ways that empower residents to actively participate in and influence urban development processes. It will include honest reflection and discussion around barriers to civic engagement even in contexts where information and knowledge has been shared and/or awareness and understanding has been acquired.
Session outputs will be used to inform new and improve existing SACN/State of Cities civic engagement tools/mechanisms and beyond.
