The Impact of Linking High School Assessments to Graduation
Since the class of 2008, Washington state has required students to meet standard on a set of high school assessments in order to earn their diploma. In the context of a polarized debate over the need for and impact of graduation-linked assessment, League of Education Voters sought to gather and evaluate data on high stakes assessment in our state.

In our November 28 Lunchtime LEVinar, League of Education Voters Policy Analyst Angela Parker will explore whether linking high school assessments to graduation impacted graduation or dropout rates, whether linking high school assessments to graduation impacted any particular student group more than others or contributed to achievement gaps, whether educators and students believe the Smarter Balanced Assessments accurately measure college/career-readiness, and whether alternative assessments are accessible.
