The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is an important avenue for indigenous peoples to engage in as custodians of biological and cultural diversity. Indigenous knowledge, systems, innovations, practices and technologies, as well as local collective actions contribute to the three objectives of the Convention making indigenous peoples the best examples “living in harmony with nature”.
Join our indigenous leaders as they revisit the goals and objectives of the CBD and reflect on the achievements of Indigenous Peoples in this process. A briefing on current key issues under negotiation will also be provided, including Indigenous Peoples’ proposals to achieve transformative change through the new Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.
