The new year brings a host of new challenges for employers. During this month's Conversation With Counsel, we will discuss the following:
•The new pay data reporting requirement
As the March 31 deadline to provide the first pay data report to the Department of Fair Employment and Housing draws near, employers need to prepare for, and get an early start on, what will be a time-consuming and complicated task.
As the Covid-19 vaccine becomes more widely available, employers must decide whether they can and should require employees to vaccinate, and the potential legal consequences of their decisions.
•Voluntary Covid paid sick leave
The federal and California mandatory paid sick leave laws were not extended into 2021, but employees continue to need time off for Covid-related reasons. Employers must decide whether (and on what terms) they will continue to offer voluntary Covid paid sick leave, and also be aware of the various other forms of leave potentially available to employees.
