Wildfire Smoke Impacts on Grapes and Wine
Join us on Wednesday, Sept. 16 from 1-2:30 p.m. for an all-industry Zoom meeting on wildfire smoke impacts.

The roundtable panel will include Dr. Greg Jones of Linfield University; Regional Director Ben Theil of USDA Risk Management Agency; Dr. Elizabeth Tomasino of Oregon State University; Dr. Caroline Merrell of Jackson Family Wines; and Alisa Jacobsen, vice president of winemaking at Joel Gott Wines. It will also feature interviews with Australian winemakers Jeremy Magyar, Andrew Marks, Michael Hill Smith MW and Adam Wadawitz.

Other experts will be on hand as well to comment on topics such as contracts or the potential for emergency assistance.

The discussion will cover a host of concerns, including:
- Weather conditions
- Considerations for harvesting and winemaking in a smoke impacted vintage
- Recommendations for micro-fermentations
- Testing recommendations, sampling protocols and capacities
- Insurance and qualifying for indemnity

The call will be recorded and shared with those who have registered in advance. If you are not able to join, you can still send your questions in advance and receive access to the recording afterwards.
