The Wonder of Horticulture
We welcome you to meet horticultural scientists from the wonderful National Botanic Gardens and Teagasc Horticultural research site in Ashtown, Dublin. You will hear from Darach Lupton in the National Botanic Gardens, who will share his knowledge from his interesting career working in Ireland and abroad in the field of botany. You will also meet Colin Kelleher, who is a botanist in the National Herbarium, and he will talk about the fascinating scientific work that goes on in the herbarium, which has a vast preserved collection of plants and seeds. Catch up also with PhD student Sam Belton. You will also meet Lael Walsh, who works in horticultural science in Teagasc Ashtown and will explain what scientific work is ongoing in food production research.

Teagasc and the Office of Public Works have a long history of collaboration in the National Botanic Gardens, where students get the opportunity to learn and train on the grounds and gain qualifications up to degree level that will allow them to follow careers in a wide area of work that will involve scientific research. We invite you to join us to find out the many many career options available to horticulture graduates.

This event is hosted by broadcaster Jonathan McCrea. We hope you will join us live on Zoom to explore the wonder of horticulture.

All of these events are free but must be pre-booked. Registrations must be made by an adult and all children must be accompanied by an adult at events.
This festival is sponsored by Science Foundation Ireland and Teagasc (Agriculture and Food Development Authority).
