Join the ICOM International Committee for Exhibition Exchange (ICEE) for the first in a series of webinars on exhibition exchange and traveling exhibition planning. During the inaugural program, Myriam Springuel, Director of the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) will help to clarify the unique characteristics and complex process of planning for traveling exhibitions:
• Concept: telling the exhibition story in chapters, and understanding the disciplines, venues and missions of multiple host institutions
• Interpretation: considering the relationships between objects, exhibit elements, and varied physical spaces
• Technical aspects: requiring traveling exhibitions to be lightweight, durable and compact while offering substance and presence
Ms. Springuel will also discuss briefly some of the essential issues to address when planning for traveling exhibitions: cost, balancing revenue and mission, security, partnerships, relevance to host institutions, and measuring success.
