SAIAB Seminar Series: Estuary monitoring: Pondoland Marine Protected Area

Godfrey Padare is an MSc graduate from the University of Fort Hare and is currently an intern at the South African Institute of Aquatic Biodiversity (SAIAB), working with the Acoustic Tracking Array Platform (ATAP). In September 2022, Godfrey got an opportunity to assist in conducting the bi-annual estuary monitoring survey headed by the Eastern Cape Parks & Tourism Agency (ECPTA) and Mkambati Nature Reserve in the Pondoland Marine Protected Area, which stretches along the spectacular Wild Coast. In this talk, Godfrey will be taking us through the field trip, highlighting the techniques and instruments used, as well as presenting the significant research findings and their implications for the Pondoland Marine Protected Area.
