“It is a good rule in life never to apologize. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them.”~ P.G. Wodehouse
It’s no surprise that women professionals apologize at a much greater rate than their male colleagues.
In growing your career, apologies and excuses can be a CLM - Career Limiting Move (CLM). Why? You’re not seen as a strong leader — leadership requires backbone and conviction. Saying “I’m sorry” even once can send the wrong message.
And yet, I hear apologies all the time — from the waitress in the restaurant who drops a spoon – to my Mental Toughness clients who don’t complete their homework – to senior women leaders presenting their company report when they slip on a word. Even Hillary Clinton apologized during her concession speech.
WITL - Women in Tech Leadership invites you to join Mental Toughness expert and coach, Bobbi-Jo Brighton, CST, LCI, for an in-depth look at what’s at the root of over-apologizing and how you kick this limiting habit once and for all.
