How is the COVID-19 pandemic affecting peace and conflict around the world? What can we already say about the pandemic’s impact and changes in global conflict and civil unrest? Join us as we reflect and take a look at the latest trends in peace and the impact of COVID-19.
Roudabeh Kishi, Research Director at the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED), will present insights on the pandemic's impact on political violence and protest around the world from ACLED’s COVID-19 Disorder Tracker.
Serge Stroobants, Director of Europe, Middle East and North Africa at the IEP, will present findings from IEP’s Global Peace Index 2020 and the COVID-19 & Peace report. The latter covers three new topics: trends in civil unrest, ecological threats, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The programme will follow with comments from Sarah Bressan, Research Associate at the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) and conclude with a discussion.
