Freedom of Information: Tips & Troubleshooting
This 1.5 hour webinar is geared towards registrants who have had some experience with preparing and filing FOI requests, and who are looking for advice regarding challenges that arise during the FOI process.

The session will be co-presented by Mike Larsen, President of the Freedom of Information and Privacy and Privacy Association (BC FIPA) and Alexandra Wieland, Information and Privacy Archivist, Simon Fraser University.

We strongly encourage participants to send any questions you may have to our presenters in advance so that they can address specific issues you may have experienced.

Participants can claim up to 1.5 hours of CPD with the Law Society of BC.

Mike Larsen
President of the BC FIPA, and Professor and Co-Chair of the School of Criminology at Kwantlen University @BC Freedom of Information and Privacy and Privacy Association (BC FIPA)
Mike Larsen is a faculty member of the Criminology department at Kwantlen University, where he chairs the Criminology Honours Program Committee. He uses FOI to inform his research practices. In 2014, he published Access in the Academy: Bringing FOI and ATI to Academic Research. And in 2012, he was the editor of Brokering Access: Power, Politics, and Freedom of Information Process in Canada.
Alexandra Wieland
Information and Privacy Archivist @Simon Fraser University
Alexandra manages protection of privacy activities at Simon Fraser University (SFU), enabling academic and administrative departments to fulfill their legal obligations under BC's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. She is a graduate of the University of British Columbia's School of Library, Archival and Information Studies program and holds a Master of Archival Studies degree.
