Who Am I? What Do I Believe? And Why Do I Believe It? Exploring Identity and Social Responsibility through Applied Ethics
We live in a world and nation polarized by ethical controversies and awash in fake news and propaganda. If only there were a time and place where we could discuss these topics constructively and learn ways to objectively evaluate the arguments and evidence that support our moral opinions? Fortunately, philosophy has always refined and disseminated the critical thinking skills and ethical theories we desperately need to ameliorate these disputes.

During this FREE 30-Minute Webinar, Dr. Albert Spencer (Portland State University) explains how he uses the subjects of Sports, War, and Sexuality to empower his students to deepen their sense of social responsibility by exploring their own identity through the study of a diverse range of contemporary and historical authors. Students then learn across their differences through online discussion of current controversies and articulate their own informed opinions through independent research, peer review, and authentic writing assignments.
