This has been a year of significant challenges for Kingston as the fight against COVID-19 put an enormous strain on the economic and social fabric of our community. These challenges have inspired unprecedented collaboration and innovation between the City, business support organizations, social service agencies, and countless other community partners. This three-day series will highlight collaboration across the Kingston community as we turn our sights towards recovery.
Wednesday, March 24 | Turning our Sights to Recovery: Ensuring we Build Back Better
This lunch session will feature city staff discussing some of the lessons learned during the pandemic in Kingston, and how we are using creative ideas and a collaborative approach to meet the short- and long-term challenges ahead to ensure we build back better.
Thursday, March 25 | Community Investment Learning Session: Exploring Collaborative Partnerships and Proactive Strategies
This session will feature a series of speakers from across Ontario who will share information on cutting-edge community-based social finance solutions in three key areas: housing affordability, homelessness, and food security.
Friday, March 26 | Mayor’s Innovation Challenge: Student Showcase
This lunch event is an exciting opportunity to watch Kingston post-secondary students pitch creative ideas that can improve the quality of life of residents and help support recovery from the pandemic. Kingston has a wealth of talent amongst our post-secondary population and this showcase will bring forward the best and most innovative ideas from students as we build collaborative partnerships to move our community forward.
