With continued growth of the population over the age of 65, dental hygienists are managing more older adults in their practice settings. Older adults present with multiple risk factors that contribute to the development of systemic and oral disease and that influence well-being and quality of life. This webinar will review risk assessment and preventive strategizes to minimize risks that negatively impact oral and systemic health, including lifetime negative health habits, with an emphasis on ensuring safety, minimizing disease risks, maintaining function, and optimizing oral health-related quality of life. Attendees will learn how to individualize preventive strategies to improve desired health outcomes for their elderly patients.
