The unprecedented scale of the COVID-19 crisis and its evolution over time offered a unique opportunity to understand and assess the role of public service media in Ireland. This research report investigates RTÉ's response to the evolving crisis and evaluated how RTÉ adapted its output (radio, television and online) and work practices to (i) meet diverse public needs; (ii) represent a range of topics and voices; and (iii) overcome the technological and staffing challenges associated with health and social distancing measures.
It was funded by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI), under its Media Research Funding Scheme. At this webinar, the DCU researchers Dr Eileen Culloty and Dr Colm Kearns, along with RTÉ's Diversity and Inclusion Lead, Dr Zbyszek Zalinski, will present the key findings from the report and discuss potential solutions and recommendations.
PLEASE NOTE: This webinar will be recorded for sharing at a later date.
