Community Science LI Series: Diamondback Terrapin Monitoring
John Turner, Senior Conservation Policy Advocate for Seatuck Environmental Association, will explore the natural history, biology, and ecology of the Diamondback Terrapin on Long Island.

Arielle Santos, Policy Program Coordinator (also of Seatuck), will show how community scientists can log sightings of terrapins or terrapin activity using Seatuck's "Terrapin Watch" app in order to aid in the preservation of critical nesting and foraging habitat.

Nancy Grant, Director of Programs, for Friends of Flax Pond will discuss the studies occurring in Flax Pond and at West Meadow Beach as part of their effort to assess the health of local terrapin populations. Gabrielle Sconzo, Friends of Flax Pond Intern, and University of Tampa student will share her findings from her research participating in the Terrapin Nesting Survey over the last three years.
