Hosted by the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition (FRRC), Families Against Mandatory Minimums (FAMM) and Florida Cares Charity, the summit will feature leaders of three organizations that represent people affected directly by Florida’s criminal justice system – returning citizens and families of currently incarcerated people. We’ll discuss how elected officials work together to stop criminal justice reforms, and how directly impacted people can work together to make them reform the system.
We'll also discuss the upcoming elections, and why members should participate in legislative races and races for local positions like sheriffs, state attorneys, and judges. We want our members to leave the Summit better educated about the August and November elections, fired up about participating in them, and ready to do some work between now and then.
This Summit is about building a smarter, more powerful criminal justice reform movement in Florida, and one led by those who have been and remain directly impacted by the system.
This is the second installment of a two-part series.
