The Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) is a program within the Department of Defense, through which funds are allocated by Congress to supported biomedical research in specified health matters. The health matters are selected in response to the needs of the American people and military. CDMRP funds go towards supporting R&D efforts in various stages of development at for-profit, non-profit, public and private organizations. Research areas covered include (but are certainly not limited to) breast cancer, prostate cancer, psychological health/traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain management and more.
