Ties of History: Reflections on the Politics and Poetics of Curating Southeast Asia

About the Webinar

The talk walks through a series of exhibitions that yields instructive reflections on what it means and what it takes to curate a region. Surely, the notion of region does not elude reconsideration in this exercise, as it becomes part of the investigation through curatorial procedure. As curatorial projects are experiments in form as they are propositions in discourse, the exhibitions discussed are not offered up as programmatic or prescriptive. They are rather extended as gestures or invitations to thoughtfully probe the political implications of these acts, alongside their poetic requirements.
