Sometimes we know we are experiencing “history in the making.” But when it comes to museums, how do they prepare to explain these moments to future generations? Do we save this artifact or that one?
Join Friends of Royal Alberta Museum Society (FRAMS) for our 2020 International Museum Day lecture. Our guest speakers Jan Seidler Ramirez, founding chief curator and head executive vice president of collections of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York, and Karine Duhamel, Indigenous content curator at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg, will explore how museums preserve, reflect and challenge our understanding of life-changing events. The panel will be moderated by Julia Petrov, curator of daily life and leisure and acting head of history at the Royal Alberta Museum.
