In recent years, the Instincts, or Subtypes, have become one of the hottest topics in the Enneagram field. There is a lot to be said about them and understanding them and how to work with them provides very important insights into our inner work. But they are also crucial for working on our relationships. The three main instinctual drives described by the Enneagram, Self Preservation, Sexual (Attraction), and Social, help us understand what we are most looking for in our primary relationships as well as how we prefer to show love or support to another. As with all the Enneagram teachings, we learn the beauty and validity of our orientation, but also learn to see beyond it and thus increase our abilities to create and sustain meaningful relationships across the broad spectrum of people in our lives. In this hour-long presentation, Russ will not be able to do a teaching on the entire topic, nor will he be able to go through all 27 of the subtype combinations. But he will focus on how crucial each of the instincts is for a successful relationship and highlight ways of achieving better balance and freedom from past trouble areas.
After the 60 minute talk, there will be approximately 30 minutes for question and answer.
