Dr. Krista D. Sherman
Senior Scientist @Perry Institute for Marine Science
Krista graduated with her Ph.D. from the University of Exeter in July 2018. Since then she has returned to The Bahamas and taken on a full time position with the Perry Institute for Marine Science as Senior Scientist with responsibilities for developing and implementing the Fisheries Research and Conservation Program. Krista has extensive marine animal husbandry and research experience —evaluating the status of Nassau Grouper and its spawning aggregations (including the use of underwater visual surveys, population genetics and acoustic telemetry to understand patterns of connectivity); assessing impacts of invasive lionfish on native species and ecosystems; monitoring the health of coral reef, mangrove and seagrass habitats; coral restoration; and conducting Rapid Ecological Assessments for proposed Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).
