An Overview of Recent Changes to the Impaired Driving Regime
With the creation of new offences and sweeping changes to police powers, potential defences, sentencing, and the law of evidence, Bill C-46 has significantly reformed impaired driving laws in Canada. Practitioners need to be aware of these recent changes in order to properly advise their clients and litigate these matters in court. This seminar will provide an overview of the new impaired driving regime and our senior panelists will discuss how impaired driving cases may be prosecuted, defended, and, ultimately, decided on a go-forward basis.
