We would like to welcome you to this year’s Future of Design London 2020 conference. Held annually in London, the conference aims to promote forward-thinking design and inspire the next generation of designers in the field of engineering and architecture.
We acknowledge the difficult and uncertain times we are living in as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. However, we still want to support the built environment community to come together safely and share their passion for design. With your safety being our utmost priority, we have chosen to deviate from the well-established conference format and go online!
We are happy to bring to you a four-hour event – split into two sessions – with a variety of keynote speakers from around the field covering a wide range of topics. We will also be holding a young designer’s competition, of which the finalists will be able to present their work during the online event.
Confirmed Keynote Speakers Include:
Steve Fernandez (Arup) – The reuse and transformation of existing buildings
Nick McGough (Weston Williamson + Partners) – Supporting regeneration and placemaking through new and repurposed rail viaducts
Sahar Fatema (MSc in Architecture, KTH Royal Institute of Technology) – The informal use of spaces under bridges and flyovers in Karachi, Pakistan
Tanja Groth (Sweco) – How can designers contribute to help deal with the climate emergency?
Paolo Perugini (Arup) – The London Luton Airport DART scheme
