The consumption of animal produced meat in Asia has been steadily rising over the last decade as economies and the middle classes expand. Given the history of plantbased and “mock meats” in many parts of Asia many have questioned if plantbased 2.0 products are even needed. Even if these products are accepted, how big a market share will they achieve? Other alternative proteins such as cultivated meat and various biomass products are also on the horizon. What will the future bring for the consumption of protein in Asia?
