Mummers Festival "Artful Mummering Artists Panel Discussion" Zoom Webinar

Mummers have moved from your Nan’s front closet to the art scene! They’ve become the focus of mixed media, textile, watercolour, wood, tile, Christmas ornaments - you name it, mummers are featured on it!

This year we are delving into The Art of Mummering in exciting ways!

Join us online for a lively discussion with local artists Janet Peter, Doug Halliday, and Dawn Hanlon as we explore their inspirations and how mummers ignite their creativity. We will look at their artistic styles, talk about why they decided to feature art in their work, and of course chat about their own mummering experiences. They bring along some samples too, so you can have a (socially distanced) look at their finished work.

This panel discussion is presented as part of the Engaging Evening Series, in partnership with The Rooms.

She finds inspiration in folklore, the landscape and her cat. Constantly experimenting with new techniques, she works in a variety of media including paper maché, needle felting, print making and collage. She has been fortunate to share her love of creative pursuits through teaching both children and adults. Doug Halliday Doug Halliday is a Newfoundland based artist residing in the Town of Conception Bay South. From a very young age Doug has always had a strong passion for drawing and sports. His work started with pencil sketches but has evolved to include the use of mixed media. Doug takes a unique approach to his work. It contains subtle elements highlighted by deep colours that pop off the page. Doug has been strongly influenced by his love for comics, sports, wrestling, pop culture and thinking outside the box. These influences are reflected in his work. "Many things inspire my work, but the main thing that inspires me as an artist is piecing ideas together in my head and putting them to paper."
