Elisabeth LaMotte-Mitchell is the Principal of Paul Habans Charter School, where she is focused on raising student performance and developing a warm and rigorous school environment. Elisabeth most recently hails from Harriet Tubman Charter School, where she was the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for five years. During this webinar, she will discuss Habans' long-term structure as they navigate distance learning. They have themed days (Modeling Monday, Talk It Out Tuesday, Whacha Doin’ Wednesday, Thinking Thursday, Feedback Friday, and are leveraging support staff for mental health services, student support, and communicating with families.
Forrest Cook is currently teaching English 1 and 2 at Rooted School in New Orleans, working to provide students with pathways to financial freedom. He is also an instructional coach and the lead for data and assessment at Rooted. Prior to his current position, he taught Middle School ELA for 5 years at ARISE Academy in New Orleans. He will be discussing how Rooted has used Google Classroom as a platform to support self-paced, remote learning, even before the COVID-19 pandemic and definitely now during it.
