Wassilios Meissner

W. Meissner is a neurologist, with subspecialty expertise in Movement Disorders and particular interest in Parkinson’s disease (PD) and atypical parkinsonian disorders such as Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). He had been on a research leave at the New Zealand Brain Research Institute and has a visiting appointment at the University of Otago, New Zealand. At the University of Bordeaux in France he is Professor of Neurology since 2012. He is as well director of the PD Expert Centre Bordeaux and co-chair of the French Reference Centre for MSA. His current research focuses on biological and clinical markers of disease progression in PD and MSA, as well as the development of new preclinical models and treatments for PD and MSA in a translational approach.
