Multiplicities (Menu) of entry points into urban food governance through the lenses of “Food Sensitive Urban Planning” and the “City Region Food System”
With the high rates of urban population growth and increasing levels of food insecurity in African cities, it is becoming critical that food systems governance is recognised and better understood as a powerful process for addressing urban poverty and service delivery, while at the same time delivering food security.

Building on the momentum around the key outcomes from the Independent Dialogues conducted in 12 African cities by FAO, ICLEI and partners, this webinar will explore different approaches for urban food system governance with a focus on the key processes and approaches that different stakeholders can adopt. These will be discussed under the overarching thematic areas of:

Food sensitive urban planning and the need for broader visioning within local governments

-The City Region Food System (CRFS) and its contribution to regional sustainability and resilience for existing and future shocks including climate change.
-Food system experts from RUAF, FAO, ICLEI, the African Center for Cities as well as city practitioners will share some of the key processes, approaches and resources, with case studies, on how cities can identify their priorities and embark on the journey of urban food systems transformation.
