Advanced Fiddle Tunes and Improvisation with Matt Flinner
Learn mandolin with one of today's premiere players. This eight-week course will help you expand your fiddle tune repertoire while learning various approaches to soloing and playing backup. Each week, students will be given two "modern" fiddle tunes from the likes of John Hartford, Norman Blake, Vassar Clements and others. Students are encouraged to focus on whichever tune(s) best fits their ability level or personal taste.

Special attention will be given to help students create their own solos and become better improvisers. Arpeggio exercises, double stops, exercises in various positions up the neck, ear training exercises and more will be given with the intent of helping students learn more of the fretboard, improve their musical hearing and find their own improvisational voice.

The course is intended for intermediate to advanced players. Class sessions are on Tuesdays at 2 pm and 9 pm eastern time (both sessions are the same; the earlier session is given especially for the convenience of students in the UK and Europe, as well as anyone else who prefers an earlier time!), and practice/review sessions will take place on Saturdays at 11 am eastern time.

The course fee is $225. Register here, and we'll email you an invoice for the course fee in the next day or two.
