About ECOESC
Distance Education at East Central Ohio Educational Service Center (ECOESC) is a partnership with Licking Area Computer Association (LACA) to provide full-service experience. ECOESC currently employs 6 full-time teachers of Chinese, 4 full-time teachers of American Sign Language (ASL), and 4 visiting teachers from the Spanish Educational Ministry. ECOESC's partnership with the Chinese Hanban Association and the College Board provides Chinese language and culture, resulting in the receipt of the Confucius Institute designation in 2012. The ECOESC Confucius Institute is one of only six K-12 Confucius Institute in the United States. ECOESC is excited to continue to foster this long-term relationship.

About MVESC
Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center (MVESC) delivers professional development, interactive student virtual field trips, and year-long courses through web-based and traditional video conference platforms. World language courses are taught via asynchronous and synchronous platforms to 8 districts and 2 states. Students and educators in 42 US States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and the Dominican Republic have participated in MVESC’s interactive student virtual field trips and professional development. Recently, ASL availability has been expanded to include after-school 21st Century student and educator programs. MVESC has been recognized by Berrien RESA's Teacher's Choice Awards as a "Best Content Provider" and by CILC's Pinnacle Awards.

Michele Carlisle
Director, Confucius Institute @East Central Ohio Educational Service Center
Michele Carlisle is the Coordinator of Distance Education at East Central Ohio Educational Service Center (ECOESC) and Licking Area Computer Association (LACA). In addition, Michele is an adjunct professor at Kent State University for educational technology for pre-service teachers. She received her B.A. in Elementary Education and Teaching (PK-8) from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and Masters in Instructional Technology from Malone College. Michele develops and delivers interactive virtual field trips and courses for students as well as professional development for educators through both Interactive Video Distance Learning and online learning platforms. ECOESC’s World Languages program employs 6 full-time teachers of Chinese, 4 full-time teachers of American Sign Language and 4 visiting teachers from the Spanish Educational Ministry. Under Michele's direction, the ECOESC received the special designation of Confucius Institute from the Chinese Hanban Association in 2012.
Leslie Charles
Distance Learning Coordinator @Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center
Leslie Charles is the Distance Learning (DL) Coordinator at the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center (MVESC) in Zanesville Ohio. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor and Capstone advisor for Muskingum University. Leslie received a B.S. in Elementary Education from The Ohio State University and an M.A in Administrative Supervision from the University of Dayton. Leslie’s areas of expertise include technology integration and literacy/language integration in early education classrooms. Her current focus is working with districts to implement College Credit Plus course offerings for American Sign Language (ASL) classes. As the Distance Learning Coordinator for MVESC/distance learning member districts, she serves regional, state and nationally located districts, including Coshocton City, Franklin Local, Maysville Local, Mid-East Career and Technology Centers, Morgan Local, River View Local, and Zanesville City.
