2nd Roundtable on Practices and Standards in Forensic Authorship Analysis
We are pleased to announce the 2nd Roundtable on Practices and Standards in Forensic Authorship Analysis, which will be held online at the University of Manchester on the 7th of July 2021.
The event, supported by the International Association of Forensic Linguists (https://www.iafl.org/), is aimed at moving the field of forensic authorship analysis towards standardisation in the practice by improving the dialogue between scholars with different approaches and from various disciplines.

9.00 - 9.45 – Dr Shunichi Ishihara (Australian National University): “Estimating forensic likelihood ratios for linguistic text evidence with discrete models”

10.15 – 10.25 – Break
10.25 – 10.45 – Dr Sheila Queralt (Laboratorio SQ - Lingüistas Forenses): “The challenge of measuring the impossible: Authorship attribution casework”
10.45 – 11.00 – Questions
11.00 – 11.20 – Dr James Tompkinson (JP French Associates): "Understanding and expressing evidence in forensic speech science"
11.20 – 11.35 – Questions
11.35 – 12.00 - Roundtable discussion
12.00 – 12.30 – Lunch break
12.30 – 12.50 – Dr Lynn Anthonissen (University of Tübingen): "Individuality in language: Patterns of variation and change in a network of early modern authors"
12.50 - 1.05 - Questions
1.05 – 1.50 – Dr Maciej Eder (Polish Academy of Sciences/Pedagogical University of Kraków): “Reliability issues in authorship attribution studies”
1.50 – 2.30 – Questions and roundtable discussion
2.30 – 2.45 – Wrap up and conclusions.

The event will also be recorded and uploaded on Youtube. The event is FREE to attend but participants need to register.
