Tax matters. It helps to fund vital public services from education to health and social care.
With an estimated £7bn of UK corporation tax receipts still going astray as a result of profit shifting alone, this lunchtime webinar will explore the importance of local areas backing fair tax practices, and how local councils and residents can take action now by supporting the Councils for Fair Tax Declaration.
The event will be chaired by Rachel Bentley, Associate Director of CLES, the national organisation for local economies.
- Cllr Tristan Chatfield, Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources, Birmingham City Council, on why local councils should support fair tax practices.
- Steve Parks, CEO of Fair Tax Mark accredited challenger consultancy Convivio, on the importance of business and the public sector pursuing voluntary good tax conduct.
- Mary Patel, Networks Manager at Fair Tax Foundation, on how local places can back the Councils for Fair Tax Declaration.
The panel discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A.
This 50 minute webinar begins at 1pm on Wednesday 9th June 2021.
