Fight the flu and COVID-19 too: influenza vaccination in December and beyond and practical approaches to coadministration of vaccines in adults
In recognition of National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW), Immunize.org (IAC) will hold an interactive webinar on flu vaccination in December and beyond on Thursday, December 9, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. (ET).

Speakers include Dr. Jason Goldman, ACIP liaison representative of the American College of Physicians, JoEllen Wolicki, BSN, RN, and Suchita Patel, DO, MPH, from CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.

The objectives of the webinar are to:

• Discuss CDC’s new influenza surveillance tool, the Weekly National Influenza (Flu) Vaccination Dashboard and review this season’s vaccination coverage to date
• Describe the science of the safety and effectiveness of co-administering vaccines, featuring basic immunology you should understand to answer recipients’ questions confidently
• Detail practical techniques for administering multiple shots to an adult, including how to deliver two vaccines in one deltoid, which vaccines should be given in separate limbs if possible, and use of the anterolateral thigh as an injection site

Kelly L. Moore, MD, MPH, president and chief executive officer and L.J Tan, PhD, MS, chief policy and partnerships officer at the Immunization Action Coalition, will be moderating this interactive webinar. Jason M. Goldman, MD, FACP

Dr. Jason M. Goldman is a Board-Certified Internist and Fellow of the American College of Physicians, licensed in Florida, California, Nevada and New York, who completed his training at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida after graduating from the six-year combined college and medical school program at the University of Miami. After working as a hospitalist at Mt. Sinai Medical center in Miami Beach, he established a private practice in Coral Springs, Florida where he has served on several committees and functioned in leadership positions in many organizations and hospitals, including the Florida Medical Association and American College of Physicians. His clinical practice embraces the traditional and comprehensive concept of Internal Medicine where he attends his patients in both the ambulatory and hospital setting.
JoEllen Wolicki, BSN, RN
Nurse Educator, Communication and Education Branch @Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Before joining CDC in 2010, Ms. Wolicki served for 14 years as a Nurse Consultant with the Michigan Department of Community Health Division of Immunization. She worked with multiple program components including provider education and outreach, the statewide immunization information system and the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program. At CDC, Ms. Wolicki serves as a committee member of several work groups for the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), contributes to the Epidemiology and Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases textbook (the Pink Book), and works on many immunization training and educational materials and programs. She travels throughout the United States to educate healthcare providers on immunization. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Detroit/Mercy.
Suchita Patel, DO, MPH
Medical Officer, Lead for Data Science and Innovation @National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Suchita is a Preventive Medicine and Public Health physician. She serves as the Lead for Data Science and Innovation in the Assessment Branch, Immunization Services Division, NCIRD, CDC. She has worked on various research, program planning, and evaluation projects and served in lead roles in various pandemic and outbreak responses including CDC’s vaccine response during the 2009 H1N1 influenza and COVID-19 pandemics.
