The purpose of this event is to empower the stories of Black women who may suffer through infertility in silence and to educate the community on this topic through personal narratives and medical expertise.
Empowering Stories of Infertility to Motherhood by Women of Color
According to Thompson (2018), infertility affects at least 12% of all women up to the age of 44 and studies suggest Black women may be almost twice as likely to experience infertility as white women. Yet, only about 8% of Black women between the ages of 25 and 44 seek medical help to get pregnant. The purpose of this event is to empower the stories of Black women who may suffer through infertility in silence and to educate the community on this topic through personal narratives and medical expertise.
