Comida y Bebida and the Roots of Southwestern Cuisine
In conjunction with the exhibition opening and celebration of Cinco de Mayo, Martha Cotera will share the historic connection to the Frontera followed by artistic representations that showcase borderland foodways, the culinary arts and traditions linked to region’s landscape. The program includes an enticing presentation by author and chef Adam Medrano on the Native American roots of the Southewestern cuisine; a demonstration by Master Gardener Chris Grijalva-Garcia for recipes using the prickly pear cactus; and studio visits with artists Victoria Suescum, Oscar Moya, Irene Oliver-Lewis, and Alejandro Macias.
