African Customary Law Conference

The African Customary Law Conference will explore the changing dynamics of customary law in the twenty-first century.

It will examine the challenges in the development and promotion of customary law practice and scholarship on the continent and responses to address these challenges.

Panelists will discuss issues such as the relationship between customary law and the formal legal system; customary law practice; land law; chieftaincy; family law and related topics.

The conference will include discussions with a broad range of stakeholders, including, inter alia, legal and social science scholars, traditional leaders, members of the judiciary, representatives of non-governmental organizations, law reform agencies, policy makers, and other interested persons on topics related to customary law.
