With the passage of the Great American Outdoors Act, it’s a new day for outdoor recreation on America’s public lands and waters. Prior to the pandemic, outdoor recreation was a major force in the American economy, generating $778 billion in output, comprising 2.2% of GDP and supporting 5.2 million jobs, many of which were in rural communities. COVID-19 hit the industry hard, but we’re already seeing promising signs of an incredible comeback as people yearn to engage in safe, active outdoor recreation. This panel will discuss opportunities for growth and forward legislative momentum at the state, campaign and federal levels for motorized and non-motorized recreation alike.
