Hi there, You are invited to a Zoom webinar. When: Feb 8, 2023 12:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada) Topic: Advancing Digital Delivery and Open Standards in the Private and Public Sectors Register in advance for this webinar: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_FfxVOHVUQ8-VbHhy2DkGYw After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. ---------- Webinar Speakers Karen Kensek (DPACSA, LEED BD+C, FTI Fellow @Professor of Practice, USC, School of Architecture) Karen's research and teaching concentrates on the evolving role of digital design and its applications to the building profession with special focus on building science. Recently these have focused on BIM plus analytics. She has organized over a dozen symposia at USC on BIM with sub-themes on education, sustainable design, construction & fabrication, analytical modeling, management & implementation, the future of BIM, digital twins, and more. She authored Building Information Modeling available in English, French, Chinese, and Portuguese. She’s also the co-editor with Douglas Noble of Building Information Modeling: BIM in Current and Future Practice. She has received several awards for her research and teaching, notably DPACSA (Distinguished Professor from the American Collegiate Schools of Architecture) and induction as an FTI (Façade Tectonics Institute) Fellow. Her greatest feeling of accomplishment is seeing her former students becoming leaders in the building profession. Cindy Baldwin (President / Chair @VDCO Tech / buildingSMART Airport Room) Cindy Baldwin is President of VDCO Tech Inc and is recognized nationally for her expertise in BIM/ VDC and is highly regarded for her practical, real-world approach to implementation and process. Cindy is a Certified General Contractor, LEED-AP, CM-BIM and CM-LEAN certified. Cindy is the Women in BIM Florida USA Regional Lead, the Chair of the USIBD Project Data Committee and the Chair of buildingSMART USA’s Airport Room. Alexa Mitchell, PE (Transportation BIM Program Manager @HDR) Alexa is a registered professional engineer in Arizona and Missouri. She started her career at the Missouri Department of Transportation where she pioneered the implementation of 3D models for construction, electronic plans and 3D survey technologies. During the last six years, Alexa has been engaged in several national studies and strategic activities to help advance BIM and Model-based Digital Delivery, including her work with TRB, State DOTs and the AASHTO Joint Technical Committee on Electronic Standards. As a BIM consultant, Alexa has helped develop modeling standards and best practices, and contract language to align with model-based deliverables. Lynn Hiel (Bridge Engineer in the BIM Specialty Branch @Caltrans (Division of Engineering Services – Bridge Design)) Lynn Hiel is a Bridge Engineer at Caltrans and has been with the Department since 2019. After graduating from UC Berkeley, she worked for 5.5 years in the BIM.5D Department at Züblin in Germany; she completed the German Apprenticeship program in the field, before becoming one of Züblin’s BIM Managers. As Lynn worked on projects, she realized that BIM's ability to support collaboration, often depended on the agreements in the construction contract. She went on to study this topic at King’s College, London, earning her MSc in 2018 in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution. Lynn is co-chair of the Caltrans Bridge Design BIM Committee and is an active participant in the AASHTO pooled fund project BIM for Bridges and Structures. She has played many key roles in the Caltrans BIM endeavor, including as a lead author of the Caltrans BIM Execution Plan Template for Bridges and in supporting BIM pilot projects. She is currently pursuing her buildingSMART openBIM® professional qualification.
