Cortez Process, one of the world’s Top 10 Tier One gold mines, had an existing well-developed predictive maintenance program in place, but decided to implement digital technology for better decisions, efficiency and cost savings. With an initiative towards digital transformation, they rolled out the Petasense ARO System to critical assets and expanded to multiple sites and assets after a successful pilot.
Reliability engineers at Cortez Process are able to continuously monitor rotating and non-rotating machines using wireless sensors and predictive analytics integrated with their process historian (OSI PI). They have demonstrated the benefit of real time monitoring, helping to improve personnel efficiency, predict failures with short failure interval and monitor inaccessible assets.
Senior Reliability Engineer and Supervisor, Leonard Zahrowski, will discuss the benefits and challenges of bringing digitization to the mining industry.
