As the telehealth field has grown, telepsychiatry has emerged as one of its most effective and widely used forms. Telepsychiatry is different from most other forms of telehealth because it focuses not only on episodic care, but also on longer-term relationships between remote providers and consumers. Building a telepsychiatry program requires paying attention to legislation, prescribing regulations, and implementation strategies that are new for many organizations.
Based on lessons learned from successful telepsychiatry programs across the nation, this presentation will discuss the different models for telepsychiatry programs and how they fit into multiple settings and applications. This presentation will also review telepsychiatry's ability to reduce costs, improve consumer care, and create healthier populations, all while helping to address provider workforce shortages.
