She has been very involved with her community and has served as a volunteer with many community groups and organizations. She has been involved with Communities in Bloom for over 16 years as a volunteer, Chairperson of the the local CiB committee, a Saskatchewan Provincial Judge and a past National CiB Board member. Currently in her 8th year as a Councillor with the Town of Indian Head, she serves as the liaison between the local CiB committee and Council. Gwen and her husband Andrew have one daughter and son-in-law. They enjoy being busy in their community, gardening and are currently landscaping a new backyard. Most importantly however, is spoiling their 4 year old granddaughter! She has witnessed firsthand the great benefits that the Communities in Bloom program has brought to her community. “People, Plants, and Pride” totally sums up the great transition in Indian Head! Megan Jones Megan is a Community & Parks Planner with more than 18 years of experience. Her first seven years of planning focused on parks, open spaces, recreation and culture planning throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan. After pursuing a Masters degree in Urban & Regional Planning, her skills expanded to larger regional planning and land use planning. This has provided Megan with an ability to work with team members on all scales of higher-level planning to a finer level of detail and implementation. She also believes that a critical component in any planning process is meaningful engagement of administration, decision-makers, stakeholders, neighbours, and community members to ensure ownership over the principles and provide locally relevant context. Her focus has been on communities that include elements of design and planning that are high-quality, connected, functional, inclusive, and conscious of our climate. Kathleen Reinheimer and Wendy Wiederick Kathleen Reinheimer started her career as a gardener and has been in her role as Coquitlam’s Park Manager for the last 16 years. As an advocate for the transformative power of community engagement in parks, she sits on the board of BC Communities in Bloom. The “Communities in Bloom” program in Coquitlam is fully supported by civic government, local businesses, community organizations and institutions, residents and visitors. Wendy Wiederick is the Parks Operations Manager for the City of Coquitlam. Wendy’s portfolio includes the City’s Park Spark team who work with community to “Bring Coquitlam’s Parks Alive”. Wendy has worked in the municipal Parks and Recreation field for over 35 years, and her philosophy is to focus on the user experience and work with community to enhance that experience through partnerships and relationships.
