Hi there, You are invited to a Zoom webinar. When: Feb 18, 2021 02:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada) Topic: Community Land Trust Webinar Register in advance for this webinar: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_EQ2b-VabTmuXxWOcm_TIOg After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. ---------- Webinar Speakers Tony Hernandez (Director of Operations & Stewardship @Dudley Neighbors, Inc.) Tony is the Director for Dudley Neighbors Incorporated, the community land trust established by the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI) in Roxbury, MA. Dudley Neighbors Incorporated (DNI) has been promoting the community land trust model as well as building towards what now spans over 32 acres of land over 30 years throughout Roxbury and the North Dorchester area of Boston. Tony has led in advancing DNI’s mission and the organization’s work to reclaim brownfields in the community. He has lived on the land trust in Dudley for about 20 years. He holds a Masters degree in architecture and has played an integral role in community development and ensuring affordable housing for low-income families in his community. Janelle Orsi (Executive Director and Co-Founder @Sustainable Economies Law Center (SELC)) Janelle is a cartoonist, lawyer, and advocate focused on cooperatives, land trusts, housing justice, community-owned energy, and democratizing finance. She co-founded and works for the cooperatively-structured nonprofit, Sustainable Economies Law Center. Most of her time is spent learning and creating with inspiring groups who are advancing permanent community stewardship of land (check out the Radical Real Estate Law School) and channeling investments (especially retirement savings) away from Wall Street and into our local communities (check out The Next Egg). She likes to have conversations and make cartoons about abolishing private property, abolishing the legal profession, and abolishing private wealth accumulation. Çaca Yvaire (Terran Shield: Community Conservation Co-director @Northeast Farmers of Color Land Trust (NEFOC)) Çaca is the Terran Shield: Community Conservation Co-Director for the Northeast Farmers of Color Land Trust (NEFOC). He is an Afro-Indigenous territorial scholar-practitioner and student of planetary science, political geoecology, and the arts. He brings a unique lens to conservation work. He is primarily invested in stimulating and uplifting an infrastructure that supports a rich and imaginative solidarity between lifeways, and honoring the varied traditions of relating sustainably to the world around us through non-industrial agroecology, agriculture, silviculture, aquaculture, etc. that have been historically side-lined by imperialist design. As the Terran Shield, he is defending a space in which a regional and national community of land stewarding practitioners of all creeds may collectively prepare and secure a place for independence and resiliency in a time of wicked cultural extraction, neglectful and uneasy political leadership, and well-funded environmental destruction.
